(new) a more public patch queue --Simon Michael, Mon, 05 Dec 2005 08:15:24 -0800 reply

I'd like to change the main ZWiki repo's author address so that "darcs send" will send patches somewhere public instead of directly to me, so that we can review, try out, discuss new patches together. I was going to send them to zwiki@zwiki.org, but Zwiki will strip the attachment. I could set up a zwiki-commits/zwiki-patches/zwiki-changes mail list - or we could make Zwiki pass through attachments - any takers ?

Which "takers" are you asking for? People who would be willing to monitor the proposed mailing list?

No, I mean: someone willing to look at mailin.py and see what's involved in passing through attachments.

At first sight, it doesn't appear to involve much, just take all Mime parts with Content-Disposition and a filename set, decode them and put them somewhere. The latter could be a challenge:

  • where do we put the attachment
  • what do we do when one with the same name already exists

We could upload attachments to the wiki as editform does, but we wouldn't want to do that for all. But aside from that, it would be useful simply to pass them through for delivery to subscribers.
