After copying the ZWiki files to /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/Products/ and restarting Zope I tried to create a ZWiki object in ZMI. Unfortunately I got an error. Here is the quote from /error_log:

Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 98, in publish
Module ZPublisher.mapply, line 88, in mapply
Module ZPublisher.Publish, line 39, in call_object
Module Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings, line 306, in __call__

Module Products.Localizer.LocalFiles, line 54, in get_translations
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/usr/lib/zope/lib/python/Products/ZWiki/locale'

My wild guess was that the directory i18n has something to do with locale and I did an 'ls -ln i18n locale' in the product directory which at least let me intantiate a ZWiki object - but I doubt that it does more than preventing the error. I'm a ZWiki newcomer and do not know what I should expect to see when locales are installed right. My system locale is German but ZWiki does not seem to contain German translations and thus it might be that I see no effect because of this.

I'm running an up to date Debian testing and I'm in the process of updating the Debian package to the latest version (0.30.0rc2).

Kind regards

Hi Andreas,

>After copying the ZWiki files to /usr/lib/zope/lib/python/Products/

(you might want to use /var/lib/zope/Products instead)

Yes, /locale got renamed to /i18n for compatibility with PTS. I don't see any reference to locale in the current code (http://zwiki.org/ZwikiDarcs). You might try this or the 0.30rc tarball. (They are the same, actually).

Right. http://zwiki.org/Chapter26 has the status of this.

Thank you!!

Release 0.30 is due tomorrow (today since I'll be away) but I'll hold it until we clear this up.

tried installing Localizer --simon, Mon, 03 May 2004 22:54:52 -0700 reply

I see. I no longer had Localizer installed, when I installed it (1.0.1) I see the error. Localizer is failing to open a non-existent directory. I'm not sure what the proper fix is at the moment. As you say, symlinking locale to i18n is the workaround for now.

it was Localizer gettext calls in the ZMI forms, if you were wondering.
