id vs. class in CSS --stefan rank, Thu, 24 Feb 2005 04:00:26 -0800 reply

This is caused by zwiki giving an id "Content" to the div holding the zwiki-page-content (CSS rule for indenting), and restructuredtext assigning an id to every heading to allow for easy linking to it (coarser PurpleNumbers so to say).

Having two identical ids in the same page is actually invalid (x)html. For a discussion of choosing between id and class in CSS see http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=ClassesVsIds

I propose changing as many as possible of the ids in the zwiki stylesheet/html generation code to classes (so this div would have a class like .contentarea) to leave the id namespace for linking purposes; or, at least, to use ids that are less likely to conflict with others, as for example "zwiki-page-content".

**fixed in 0.39 for all headings, except one ("searchinput"),
keeping it open as a reminder** --stefan rank, Wed, 02 Mar 2005 02:19:37 -0800 reply
