ZiddlyWiki is a hack/adaptation of TiddlyWiki thrown together by TimMorgan?. It provides ServerSide? storage of the wiki (tiddler) content by combining the power of TiddlyWiki with Zope.

ZiddlyWiki was a product I built and maintained for awhile. Now, I’ve decided to give it up. I don’t have the mental bandwidth to keep it up, and I’ve neglected its users for quite awhile. I will be letting the domain names expire shortly, and the latest version will be made available here for anyone wanting to take the product as their own and keep it up-to-date. ... Beats me, sorry.. this looks like something that might be in the tracker already.

After switching the page to restructured text, it seems better.

Babysitter and Idea --BobMcElrath, Mon, 14 Aug 2006 15:54:23 -0700 reply
I (Bob McElrath?) have agreed to baby-sit the codebase. Though I honestly don't think I can be any more active than I have been with ZWiki or Axiom as of late. Anyway, it will live on. Not sure why Tim pulled it so abruptly.

I had a silly idea too...someone posted yesterday some new wikifiers for MediaWiki?, Trac, and TWiki . As I have a pile of ZWiki content, it strikes me as very interesting to also make a StructuredText or reStructuredText wikifier for ZiddlyWiki. In TiddlyWiki 2.1 this is as simple as writing down the regexes for the rules and tagging your Tiddlers (wiki pages) with StructuredTextFormatting?. This could allow one to have a "real" wiki in zope, and also be able to export the entire thing to a TiddlyWiki file for offline use. I'm having an idea of subject-specific TiddlyWiki's that might collect information from Wikipedia and private wikis to create a minor knowledge base in a single file, on a single topic. Then one could have the idea of content that flows the other direction...updates to ZWiki from a TiddlyWiki/ZiddlyWiki...

Anybody bored and need a project? Go for it. ;)

I'm not offering to take over baby-sitting, but ZW seems the best of a bad lot when it comes to ServerSide? TW.

This is frustrating because TW is far and away the best wiki technology on the planet today. Go check http://www.tiddlytools.com if you don't believe me. Yes, I know this is zwiki.org - I've run a zwiki since the early days. TW with its tagging and client side technologies simply obsoletes it. I'd like to suggest we reimplement zwiki purely as a tiddler server for TW ... okay, tar and feather me, I can take it ... --PeterMerel
