Currently when you mail in an issue it has no status, or anyway it appears white, and the first severity is chosen, eg critical. It should default to open, normal. How to select these default values from the configured statuses & severities in a simple way ?

just like the default status shouldn't be hardcoded to "open". I've had a case where the workflow needed "new" as the first stage instead. These configurable defaults should apply to both issues mailed in as issues submitted through the web.
