I have been unable to install ZWiki 0.57, on platform Plone 2.1.3, Zope 2.8.5, python 2.3.5, Debian Sarge.

The event.log gives this warning : exceptions.ImportError?: cannot import name wiki_globals

Then the add/remove products page says ZWiki is broken due to this error, so it cannot be installed.

I then tried going back to 0.53 and that can be re-installed no problem. So looks like 0.57 is missing a file or import statement somewhere?

Will try to investigate further myself, but opening this ticket just to let people know.

traceback please. :)

traceback - 1291 --nd51, Tue, 03 Oct 2006 02:24:48 -0700 reply

There is no traceback. It fails on an import statement in , so nothing has actually happened for it to traceback.

To reproduce the problem, simply copy ZWiki 0.57 into a Plone instance, start up Zope and you'll see the warning in the event.log, and when you go to Add/Remove products you cannot install ZWiki due to the ImportError?. (We have a few other products in our Plone instance but I don't think that should have any effect on this particular problem)

Same issue when upgrading from 0.56 to 0.57 --Duane, Tue, 03 Oct 2006 05:05:56 -0700 reply

I encountered the same issue after over-writing the 0.56 files with the 0,57 files and have since restored 0.56.

Severity: critical => serious

serious, but critical is reserved for data loss or security breaches.

Thanks for these reports. I think this error is misleading - wiki_globals should be defined in CMFInit?.py, but some other error may be preventing CMFInit?.py from importing (see comment at the top). This is not very nice. I'd be interested in what you get after removing the try:except: around import CMFInit? in ZWiki/

Try the workaround for #1295.

Workaround for 1295 works for 1291 --nd51, Mon, 16 Oct 2006 02:10:54 -0700 reply

Simon - your workaround for 1295 does fix this bug. So if you've checked in that exact workaround for 1295 this bug will have gone away too. Sorry about setting it to critical BTW - I had just thought not being able to install at all was a bit critical. ;-) But take your point , no data corruption occured...

fixed for 0.58 --simon, Mon, 16 Oct 2006 12:45:15 -0700 reply
