Plone-2.5.1-UnifiedInstaller? + ZWiki-0.56: Mailout seems broken

  • No track why I don't receive email notification when I send a comment from ZWiki page : no message in the my console and in the event.log. My plone mailouts normally.
  • The mailout works for another ZWiki instance on the same machine but with Plone 2.05 + ZWiki-0.55.

Can you chat me on #zwiki to troubleshoot this ?

I installed a 0.57 three days ago on a plone 2.5.1. Mail out does not work. No entries in event.log and smtp log. I won't be a big help on troubleshooting this as I'm not a linux/plone etc. crack. But thanks anyway for the nice zwiki product. It's very useful! I you can fix this it would be even more helpful ;-) . Regards, Tom

can reproduce --betabug, Fri, 23 Feb 2007 08:22:12 +0000 reply

I'm reproducing this on my test setup (latest Zwiki, Plone installed from the .tgz from - seems to be 2.5.2).

I've got regular Plone mailout working, and Zwiki mailout indeed does not leave a trace in the SMTP logs.

Problem's No 1 and No 2 --betabug, Fri, 23 Feb 2007 08:45:26 +0000 reply

No1: the bare try;except masked off a "MailHostError?: No message recipients designated" - it just got retried 3 times without the except clause being run? It looks like the SecureMailHost? (used by plone) API is wrong in that "mto" is a required parameter, not an optional parameter?

No2: SecureMailHost? seems to ignore our BCC header... trying to look through this now.

handling mailout for SecureMailHost now by using the secureSend() method --betabug, Fri, 23 Feb 2007 10:33:17 +0000 reply

Status: open => closed

This fixes this bug, mail out for plone is working again now. The same bug would have applied to any site that uses SecureMailHost?.

We might want to do more error handling both for sending through SecureMailHost? and normal MailHosts? though. But I guess that would be another issue, so I'm closing this one. See #1310
