ZWiki mail-out option under Plone --Bill Page, Fri, 28 Nov 2003 10:02:27 -0800 reply

With a number of awkward steps, I have managed to add a ZWiki page to my CMF-1.3.2, CMFPlone?-1.0.5, Zope-2.6.1 and Python 2.1.3 under Solaris 8. I have some problems even though I did use the Quick Installer as described at with ZWiki-0.25.0rc1. The portal is configured as a Site type: Private Plone Site.

The error message is:

Site error
This site encountered an error trying to fulfill
your request. The errors were:

Error Details
Error Type
Error Value
global name 'p' is not defined

I haven't been able to find a reference to this specific error anywhere.

This occurs immediately when I tried to add a Zwiki Page. But adding the ZWiki page using the ZMI seems to work. And a ZWiki folder added to ZOPE itself also works properly.

I have also configured ZOPE to allow me to subscribe to ZWiki pages and [recent changes]? mail-out email is successfully sent to me. But, I have not been able to get mail-out to work from a ZWiki page inside Plone.

Does anyone know how to do this?

The ZWiki documentation specifies that I must set the mail-out property on the "ZWiki folder", but there is no ZWiki folder as such in Plone. I tried adding such a property to the my Plone folder where the ZWiki page is located, but this still does not work. I can however send a email reference to a Plone page (email icon), so I am quite sure that the mailhost is configured properly.

What am I doing wrong?

traceback ? --SimonMichael, Fri, 28 Nov 2003 10:18:22 -0800 reply

Hi Bill. Can you post a traceback for that name error ? HowToPostATraceback.

Let's give that mail-out issue it's own page (via IssueTracker) if needed. The wiki folder is just the folder containing your wiki pages. The key property is mail_replyto (or mail_from).

fixed for rc3 --SimonMichael, Fri, 28 Nov 2003 15:08:24 -0800 reply

Never mind, I think I just nailed that name error. Thanks.

Hmm, similar error in Linux-made aps --Samotnik, Fri, 28 Nov 2003 15:11:56 -0800 reply

Im ignorant in programming, but I had very similar error in the application written for Linux but installed on Windows using Cygwin. In error log the message was that the file isn't found. But the path to this file in the message was "p/my_original_path", despite a high-level "p" catalog didn't exist.

Thanks for the name error fix --Bill Page, Sun, 30 Nov 2003 12:16:54 -0800 reply

Thank you for fixing this so quickly.

About the mail out problem. Another test shows that it is now working from within Plone. Perhaps it was too late at night when I tested it. The key point was to add the property 'mail_replyto' to the Plone folder, right?

Oh another thing, I noticed that you moved my comment from the original page to this page. I was subscribed to the original page, but I did not get any notice by email. Is this normal?

Thanks for the name error fix --Sun, 30 Nov 2003 17:20:42 -0800 reply

Bill - yes, that's normal since we only mail out comments and new pages here (the default). I forget the original page but I left a small link there so you'd see it. To be really certain, one would send out a comment on the old page instead.

Oops, the error: global name 'p' is not defined, still happens --Bill Page, Mon, 01 Dec 2003 17:06:56 -0800 reply

I just installed ZWiki-0.25.0 and I have found that the same error message occurs again

Site error This site encountered an error trying to fulfill your request. The errors were:

I used QuickInstaller? to uninstall ZWiki. I copied the new ZWiki directory in Products. And then I user QuickInstaller? to install the new one. ... No joy. ):
