When saving an edit, perhaps a user could (optionally) nominate the "nature" of the editing: "Cosmetic" or "Deep" (for want of better terms).
If the change is nominated as "Cosmetic", then ZWiki would send no subscription e-mails. This would reduce the storm of notification e-mails that can arise from fixups, when none are really needed.
Just a thought.

What would keep the spammers from marking all their "edits" to be "cosmetic"?

As a wiki user I don't like having to manually identify "minor edits", let's not do that. I agree it would be good to (say) condense multiple edits close in time into fewer email notifications. I think there is more discussion of this elsewhere.
