**David's ZWiki Comments**

- When you get a larger wiki built using ZWiki (greater then 2000 unique pages), generating the RecentChanges page takes far too long and is far too large. My suggestion - only show the last 100 changes.

- Have you considered using the python mysql modules to provide an option to store all wiki pages, update tables, users, etc in mysql?
*(nope --SM)*

- GeoffGardiner 's ManagedMode looks interesting *(but only had a short life! I was happy with the append box that's now standard in Zwiki. --GG)*
*(short but influential --SM)*

- "phpwiki":http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/ has a feature where four hyphen characters result in a horizontal rule. This would be nice to have in ZWiki.

- It would be nice to have a system configuration file or page that allows you to make changes to global settings (such as link parsing, or if the (diff) is shown beside each item in RecentChanges.

**David's ZWiki Questions**

- Is there anything special that I need to do to edit the ZWiki source code? It looks like there is python source files, then compiled versions of the same. Do I have to compile the script file after I have editied? How is this done? *(Just edit the source and restart Zope - works for me --GG)*
!*(I turn on auto-refresh in /Control_Panel/Products/ZWiki. For some edits you can just edit the source, reload the web page or rerun your tests, repeat. Sometimes a manual refresh is needed, (I use 'curl -nsS "http://$(HOST)/Control_Panel/Products/ZWiki/manage_performRefresh"') and occasionally your changes will require a full zope restart to take effect. Refresh is a great timesaver but you have to keep a careful eye on things --SM)*

- Is there any way to password protect/restrict access to an entire wiki using ZWiki or Zope? *(Not sure what you have in mind, but you could easily set a single username / password that everyone must use. All sorts of options with the various user folder options, but I just use acl_users on our intranet. --GG)*
*(yup, set zope permissions for wiki folder or individual pages; the add zwiki web form lists the relevant ones --SM)*

- When I edit a page here on the ZWiki.org site, the recent changes lists the page as edited by by IP address. In other locations, for other users, it lists their username. I've set my useroptions to include my username, but this does not work either. Any ideas why this is not working? (and is this taken from the UserOptions cookies?)
*(yes it's the username cookie on useroptions. Is UserOptions remembering any of your options ? Are you behind a cookie-filtering proxy ? --SM*)

- I've tried to set my UserOptions, but they are not retained. The first time I press set cookies, everything updates correctly, but they are ingored for every other page. Are there known problems with cookie support and UserOptions? *(Anything to do with the broken structured text in Zope 2.4.3? Get the latest Zope if so. --GG)*
*(ok your cookies are not working. What browser ? Do cookies work with other sites ? --SM)*

- Is there a way to determine the version of ZWiki that is currently running? *(Zope Management Interface, look at Control Panel - Products listing --GG)*
