Not to be confused with NooWiki.
What is NooZWiki?
NooZWiki is/was a slight fork of ZWiki that can be either deployed as a separate product (perfect for testing) or used as a drop-in replacement for ZWiki itself (though the disappeared parenting support might bug you).
ZWiki 0.6.1 was just great, but I needed some features that RonDagostino and GeoffGardiner had developed, so I rolled them in. Then I made some more changes of my own, noticed that ZWiki was still using the old Product initialisation method and fixed that, decided that ManagedMode did a little too much for me and re-wrote just about all of it, moved the page rendering to a different module to make the code a bit easier to navigate...
You can guess what happened. Now I've got a ZWiki variant that is sufficiently different from ZWiki that I can't really distribute it as patches anymore.
Oops.
So, what I'm going to do is keep going, finish adding all the things I want to add, but post occasional kits here. I've already started mailing them to Simon so he's in touch with what's going on. If what I'm doing makes it back into the main ZWiki code base, cool! If not, I guess I'll just have to cope. :)

NooZWiki development and maintenance has been halted, for a variety of reasons:
- With the change in the $AUD, maintaining my account at CodeIt? cost too much. I also had to pay for a domain secondarying service.
- Shifting my domain to YourSite? meant I could get a nice large web hosting account with lots of POP mailboxes, a universal mapping to my master POP mailbox, CGI access and domain hosting and secondarying for less than just the domain secondarying service cost I was bearing when my site was with CodeIt?.
- I hate to admit it, but I'm getting a little tired of Zope. It's lots of fun, and I had lots of fun developing ZClasses? for it, but knowing that the dreaded overlapping commit problem still lurked just took the fun out of it.
- Finally, Simon and others are doing just fine with ZWiki. If they want to borrow any of my code, fine! I'll put up the old images at the new domain sometime so people can still grab the code. Some of the stuff -- in particular the smart handling of hitting the back button to edit pages, and the new page protection mechanism -- is pretty good. And the rest can be put back in, I'm sure. :)
For my new site, I'm probably going to spend some time hacking away at MoinMoin, which runs quite nicely under YourSite?'s CGI support. I'll also hack together my own basic conferencing mechanism, either into MoinMoin or as a different CGI.
And now for the original version of this page:

For more details on why I forked, see the NooZWikiExplanation? or NooZWiki:NooZWikiRationale.

New! I'm moving house, which is why I haven't coded or released any of the stuff I'm planning to do (NooZWiki:NooToDo). I'll next be working on it late September, I think. <later> Uh, make that November? Oops.
Newer! I've stopped using NooZWiki because Zope hosting was costing too much and, erm, I got distracted. Anyone's welcome to do pretty much whatever they like with whatever code they've got stashed anywhere. I'll put the old distributions up somewhere once I get my new site stable.

NooZWiki Distributions
I've put three versions of NooZWiki up for download. The last one is the most recent, but feel free to download the first two if you're really interested in seeing how things have evolved.

Hi NooZWiki page originator (not sure who - UpGrade? or GarthKidd or ?) ! - I invented the name NooWiki for my PersonalPublicWiki? some weeks ago independent from you and already reserved the domains www.noowiki.net and .org for it. - It was funny to find your NooZWiki page here, so you had the same/similar idea :-) - So i see the need to ask you if you have or had the aim to use the name Noowiki too (or the domains)!? - I guess not, because this page wasn't updated since five months, apparently you are not working any more at NooZWiki, right? - If yes after all, tell me on my hp here. - FlorianKonnertz
