Needs review and update.

international character support (70% complete)

• international character support should be not too bad at this point. We are currently working on issues with wiki links, utf-8 and locales .
• the status of bidirectional text support is unknown
• Note: Zwiki's recognition of non-ascii characters depends on your python locale setting. If you do not have a locale configured, it will recognize a default set of upper- and lower-case characters (mostly latin-1 at present) as on this site. HowToTroubleshootLocaleProblems.
• Note: to see the international character examples on these pages, you'll need a modern browser and a suitable font.
• be a little careful when editing pages with international characters as older browsers or external editors may not preserve them
• the character encoding on zwiki.org changed from iso-8859-1 to utf-8 at the beginning of 2004, you may still find some page names/text which have not been converted yet.

internationalised skin templates (100%)

• the CustomizingTheSkin templates (standard and plone) need to have i18n:domain and i18n:translate attributes added throughout (see Resources). DTML-based templates need to have dtml-translate added (see ZopeWiki:PlacelessTranslationService), note most of these are generated from the pages in content/dtml and content/tracker. Fix remaining dynamic translation issues as we find them.

• we need to get i18n and l10n team(s) rolling. How-tos are needed. See ZopeWiki:ZopeInternationalization and other resources.
• need to clarify product development/i18n/l10n/release workflow. Remember: 1. merge latest source files, 2. make pot, 3. replace po files with latest, 4. make po
• we need a place to test this. Zwiki.org needs to go multilingual.
• we need to set up statistics, fancy graphs and tests for all this.
