2005/08: I'm proposing this WikiBadge and process as a way to raise the quality of docs and support WikiCleanup. See PageMaintainers for our previous attempt at this; this one is a little different and hopefully will be practical. Here's what I'm thinking:
- this badge should be used in moderation, only on primary documentation pages which are actively maintained. It will help identify such pages.
- this badge identifies one person only. I think. Otherwise it loses focus.
- the reviewer is responsible for the overall quality of the page.
They are not (usually) an exclusive author/maintainer, expected to write all the content; but they are the go-to person.
- they supply editorial oversight and quality control.
- page reviewers are contactible; when not, they remove themselves (preferably; or they are removed)
- when their page needs improvement, they find volunteers to do the work, or they do it themselves, or they get consensus to merge or delete the page, or they solicit a new reviewer and retire.
- they monitor comments and edits and offer guidance where needed. They will usually be subscribed to the page.
- they work to make their page(s) excellent, and even more, to make the whole wiki excellent.
- they may gloat discreetly if their page attracts high ratings, but of course they are not a "karma whore".
- if this badge carries its weight by raising quality significantly, we'll keep it, otherwise not.
